Well, I finally finished reading Walking in Victory the other day! I had an amazing time reading through each and every chapter! It took over a month but every time I dove into that book, it always lifted up my spirits and provided great spiritual insight! It really put in perspective some things I didn’t understand, mainly grace and my identity in Christ. I am really thankful for the opportunity to read this book. So yeah, I’d like to share some thoughts and insights the Lord gave me while reading this book…

The Power of Grace

Well, I started reading this book sometime in September on Labor Day Weekend. I guess I read a few chapters a week, a nice steady pace. Anyways, let’s see how much I can recall! :-P Well, for sure one thing that helped me out from the book was getting a grip on grace. I’m still in the process of getting under the lord’s grace, but he has definitely revealed a lot to me. It’s a really cool thing the Lord has set up for us.God’s plan is so remarkable. I am so fricken thankful for how loving our God is… I can’t get enough of his love!

I don’t know if anyone views it like this, but Grace has to be one of the most controversial things that I have ever come across! I used to take it for granted but when I realize it for what it’s worth, its really an odd thing. It is the only way to having eternal life and a relationship with the God of the Universe, but we are the farthest from deserving such a gift!!! We were the ones who said to God, “Fuck you! I am going to handle things myself!” Right there, we have denied God everything that He deserves! He created us, gave us free will, he has every right to be praised! So you’d think that being the righteous God he is, he’d force us to do what he deserves! Not at all! He does the exact opposite of what should have happened. He went and died on the cross for us! What the heck!? Why did he do that? One reason, God is love. God said it himself in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, he gave his one and only begotten son. So that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” I know that’s probably one of the most used verses in human history, but it’s because it’s a phenomenal verse. In this one verse, you got God’s reasoning for giving grace, how to receive his grace, and what you get with his grace.

It’s a wonderful reminder when I’m being ungrateful, which is very often. It reminds me of how much I don’t deserve what I have, and that I should be thankful for even the little things I have, like snacks and movies! There are many third world countries out there where they don’t even get the luxury of electricity! It is a very humbling thought, when you realize all these gifts that you are given. However, it’s so easy to grow back into my ingratitude. Growing up my parents have shown me much love and I am truly thankful for it. They lead me to Christ, and I have them to thank for helping me receive the Lord’s grace. Their love has opened up another side of me as well though… Selfishness. I have grown up thinking that I deserve whatever I want from anyone. I grew up feeling like I deserved to be treated like a King and that I could order around everyone else. It’s a natural reaction of the heart, Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart is more deceitful then all else, and is desperately sick.” We deceive ourselves so easily, believing whatever we want.

That’s why the truth hurts. That’s why we hate the truth, and therefore that’s why we hate God. God is truth, he reveals the truth in ourselves like a light reveals the content in a room or a closet. That’s why we love the darkness because then no one can see what we really are, even if it means living a life of a liar, of pain, and loneliness. Thank God, for Jesus Christ and his willingness to pay for our sins! Now we can stand in the light and no longer be ashamed because Jesus has covered our sins for us. Now we can bear the light with him!

This blog isn’t finished but I find that it’s going to be too long to just post it all at once… to be continued, here’s a song.
